Ethics & Diversity
FAMILY-Lab is committed to conducting research that is not only scientifically rigorous but also ethically sound, socially responsive, and inclusive of diverse family experiences and cultural contexts.
Our Commitment to Inclusive Research
We recognize that parenting practices, adolescent development, and family dynamics are deeply shaped by sociocultural, economic, and historical contexts. Therefore, our research practices intentionally reflect and respect this diversity.
Representation Matters:
We aim to include diverse participants across gender, socioeconomic status, ethnicity, family structure, migration background, and sexual orientation. We actively seek to address gaps in literature and reduce bias in developmental research.
Culturally Sensitive Measures & Design:
Our studies are designed with input from local communities and experts to ensure that instruments and protocols are linguistically and culturally appropriate. When adapting tools, we prioritize conceptual equivalence, not just translation.
Equity in Knowledge Production:
We value collaboration with underrepresented scholars and institutions, both nationally and internationally. We also seek to amplify voices and perspectives that have historically been marginalized in psychological research.
Accessible Communication:
Research findings are shared not only through academic publications, but also through public-oriented channels such as infographics, webinars, and community workshops, making our work more accessible to families and practitioners.
